Why Is Self Care So Important?

Nowadays,  we have barely time to relax. Our everyday life is so hectic and stressful. We don’t have time for proper meals, our hobbies and most importantly, we don’t have enough time to relax and take care of ourselves. And it’s so easy, that many of us feel like self-care is something “special”.

Self care prevents you from nervous breakdown. We are all guilty. We push ourselves too much, without even realizing our limit. Often reaching it and feeling miserable, exhausted and ready to give up.

Self care clears your mind.  When you get stuck on a complicated problem to deal with, and you have no idea what to do, try taking a break.

Self care motivates. When you feel like you don’t want to fight anymore, make sure to enjoy some me-time, so that you feel like fighting again.

However Self care is not only about relaxing. The most important part of self-care is what we do everyday, what we eat, how much we exercise.

Do you think you practice self care enough? What are the best ways to relax for you? I would love to know.

And remember:

There is no shortcut. It takes time to build a better, stronger version of yourself.

Storytime: How an angel left my side

So today I’ve prepared something heart breaking. So grab a tissue box and let’s get to it.

In summer (18.7.) I lost my best friend. His name was Nero and he was a golden retriever.

Me and my whole family had a special relationship with him. He was an irreplaceable member from the day one. Meaning he was my second brother and my parents took him as their son.

He had a beautiful personality, friendly, playful, cuddly and very loving. He was also very stubborn. There was no way to train him. He had his own head, but he was very clever and could communicate well.

Nero loved socks, so every time he would want to cuddle or play, he stole one of your socks and brought it to you as a payment. He also cared for his stuffed animals dearly (at least for some of them). The truth is he didn’t have to try hard to get your attention. He was very cute and everyone loved his company.

Even though, he was born as a last puppy and was smallest and whitest of all the pups, he was the best dog we could wish for.

img_2643

At the beginning of summer, when we were running through the forest together, I wouldn’t even imagine that he would be gone so soon. But I knew it would come one day, he wasn’t young anymore. I also asked him to let me know when his time comes…

Nero stopped eating one day, we had hard time to feed him his favorite foods. I knew something was wrong, the moment when he lost interest in sleeping with me in my bed (we would cuddle every night – he refused to fall asleep unless I held his paw).

We finally decided to go to the vet on Saturday. They didn’t know what was wrong with him and the blood wasn’t taken during weekends, so they sent us home with cannula in his leg and infusion, so that he would feel better until Monday.

We spent the whole day taking care of him, comforting him and making sure he was feeling better. He was such a good boy. Even though he was absolutely terrified of the whole infusion thing, he came when called obediently waiting for us to connect him to his treatment. I was so proud. On Sunday morning, when I took a bath and couldn’t keep him company, Nero took out his cannula. You can see how stubborn he was. This was sign for me, I realized that he had enough.

img_2859

In the end he didn’t hurt himself and I didn’t want him to suffer again, so we left it at that. However, in the night his condition worsened and we didn’t know what to do. He was in so much pain and I suffered just looking at his suffering. We took him to the vet again, and what he found out broke our hearts.

He had a tumor on the liver (therefore cancer), 10x5cm, which is huge to my belief and I can’t even imagine how much he suffered.

We decided that he should go to heaven because he has been fighting this battle for 2 weeks and we couldn’t help him. We knew it was time. And he knew that too, we took him outside for a few moments, just so he would pee and feel like a dog for a while, but he wasn’t interested. He was just standing there, staring at us while we cried, like he wanted to remember our faces.

It hurts until now and I know it will hurt forever. Because loosing someone so close to you is never easy. He fell asleep in my hands calm, and ready.  I do really miss him and love him. That will never change.

img_2639

Dogs are much stronger than they look. If you can imagine how much our dogs love us. How big their hearts are. That’s how much they fight, how much they want to be with us.

So to every dog owner out there, cherish and love your dog to the bits, because I promise you, they can feel it, and they will fight accordingly.

Have you ever lost your pet? How did you overcome the pain?

Storytime: Why I Hate Public Transport

Hey there! So today I have something personal for you. This happened a while ago.

Me and my friends were taking a bus, it was quite full so we were in between some people while having a great time chatting. I was standing on one side of our group, facing them and not caring about my surroundings very much.

Suddenly, I felt something moving right next to me.

So naturally, I turned around.

The first thing I saw, was this tall scary man staring at me.

He had black hair and huge eyes. Oh god those eyes… If they could fall out, they would… That’s something I’ll never forget about him. Those freaky eyes.

He was wearing a long black coat with a scarf to his knees.

At first, I thought he was doing something pervert… Because as soon as he noticed me, he pretended to fix zip on his pants.

Something wasn’t right and as soon as I looked at him I knew it. I felt super uncomfortable … I also noticed that my bag was opened and my purse was poking out.

I didn’t want my friends to panic. So I casually changed position and leaned against the bus window, with my bag between me and the glass.

My friends followed me and the chat continued. But HE also followed.

One of my friends shoved her phone in her unzipped bag. And he was standing right next to it. I was shaking.

I was so concentrated on her phone and his huge eyes gazing all over it, that when I saw his hand from under the scarf, trying to reach that phone I panicked and snapped my friends handbag sooner than I managed to say “I will take that.”

At the same exact moment I saw his eyes piercing me again. I gave him the deadliest stare I could while shaking. He left at the next stop, probably realizing I would call the police or something.  And I just returned the bag to my friend with a forced smile and something like “your welcome”. That’s when my friends realized.

But that’s not the worst thing that happened. (It actually is, but this totally blew my mind.)

Some woman came up to me and informed me (very kindly), that my bag is also opened

Which I already knew.

She had to see the whole thing because my bag was behind me now, so she couldn’t see it at this point…

Very nice lady, you’ve got points for standing there and looking at this whole happen and do absolutely nothing about it…

For some reason I believe that those eyes are like that because of what he does, you know, like when we were little and we were playing with our faces, our mom used to tell us ‘Stop it, or else your face stays like that forever…’ It might me stupid, but I believe he was searching for something to take so hard that his eyes are practically falling out…

Even though I don’t want this blog to be a negative place of any sorts, I believe that this is something that is ought to be shared with the rest of the world… I hope that stuff like this can be prevented, if people just helped each other and spoke up.

So that’s why I hate public transport. Sadly, it’s quite ‘normal’ to experience something like this..at least in my country. Is it different in yours? Let me know.

Trip: Haus des Meeres, Vienna

A while ago, me and my boyfriend decided to go on a little adventure. We visited Haus des Meeres Aquarium in Vienna (Austria).

I would love to show you some snaps I took.

This guy was pretty shy at first, and then we became friends.

If you find yourself in Vienna, I highly recommend checking out the Aquarium.

It’s beautiful, and has an observation deck, with amazing view of whole Vienna.

10 Romantic Valentine’s Day Ideas

Hey there. As the day of love is just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to put together a short list of romantic, yet simple Valentine ideas to do.

So without further ado, let’s jump right into it.

Cute classical date

It’s totally okay to spend this day classical way, right? This may even make it more romantic. So take your date ice skating. There is nothing more beautiful and sweet than holding hands, laughing and having a great time together. Then you can warm up with a cup of hot chocolate in a nice café.

Luxurious Evening

If budget is not a problem than invest in a 5 course meal. Dress up in your best attire. Have  dinner at a nice restaurant, with wine and candles and enjoy romantic and very special evening.

First date

Recreate your first date. This is a great way for you to show your loved one how much you remember. Kiss on the same spot as your first kiss, walk the same path or eat the same food. If you remember you can even express love in a same words. There is nothing more romantic than bringing up memories of how it all started. You might even fall in love again.

Getting lost

Explore your city! Go on romantic walk and see if you can get lost.

Just be careful, don’t get lost for real. When we did this once, we got seriously lost and couldn’t find a way back for an hour or so. But with a little bit of team work, this ended up being  (most embarrassing and) the funniest adventure we ever had together.

Romantic dinner with a twist

This is actually something we are planning this year, as it contains all of our favorite activities together.

Plan what you want to eat, shop for groceries together and then cook everything. Preferably something totally romantic, for example Pizza in a shape of heart, you can top it with what you love, and if each of you loves the different type of pizza, let your differences  work together, top it in half. Then eat it while watching your favorite movie or playing board games. You can even set the table for two with candles and have perfect romantic dinner.

Cute little something to grow your love

Write a love letter

There is nothing more romantic than your feelings handed to your loved one for them to cherish forever.

Plan together

Nothing brings people together like planning a day, especially as important as Valentine’s day or your anniversary.

Make a photo album

Collect all of your memories together, and have something to come back to when in need.

First anniversary gift for him, he loved it.

Cute note or breakfast in bed

If you live with your loved one, you can leave a beautiful note for them to find, or make breakfast in the bed for them. With just a little effort they will feel special and loved.

In the end, I would like to say that once you love someone make sure to celebrate and cherish them every day.

I hope you enjoyed my post, if you have any more ideas, feel free to share them with me.

And also, make sure to celebrate Valentine’s day with as much love as possible.

5 Teas Worth Dying For

If you drink tea on a daily basis, you will live longer. (Or at least I hope, otherwise my whole life efforts are worthless.)

Usually, it reaches up to about four (sometimes even more) cups a day. It’s an obsession, I know. But what can I do, I can’t help it.

I find myself drinking mostly green tea from Japan. Which is awesome, as it is super healthy, boosts metabolism and functions as coffee.

5. Sencha

This is the most common type of Japanese green tea out there. If you like Sencha, you are going to love all the other teas below.

I like to drink a cup of Sencha while being productive, so I feel refreshed and motivated.

4. Green jasmine tea

This is my all the time, every mood tea. One of the reasons I love it so much are memories. We used to enjoy a nice pot of jasmine tea every time we got together with my friends.

3. Sakuracha

Also referred to as Sakura kukicha

I fell in love with this tea just recently, I drank a whole package in just two days, then I cried for next two days, because I needed more. Still worth it.

It tastes like a fine cup of green tea with Sakura flavor peeking out behind the corner. There is nothing more relaxing.

2. Genmaicha

Genmaicha is a green tea with toasted brown rice. It’s a cheaper type of tea, but that surely doesn’t mean it’s worse than other tea types.

It’s kind of everyday tea for me. When I finish one pot, I go and make another one without even thinking about it.  Also, the first and only green tea my boyfriend likes.

1. Matcha

I like to remind everyone that Matcha is the healthiest of all teas, because you ingest the entire leaf and receive all of the nutrients. People are probably irritated by now, but that doesn’t change the facts.

I love Matcha, and I’ve been obsessed with it (believe it or not) for 5 years now. It all started when I experienced a tea ceremony for the first time and tasted that liquid goodness.

I drink Matcha every day now. Whether I stop at Starbucks and grab a Matcha latte or I whisk one at home.

If you tried any of those teas let me know and I would also love to know about your favorite teas so feel free to comment.
